Candles are strongly associated with Kyoko's father, as they are a recurring visual motif whenever Kyoko's past is shown. As a doppel, Kyoko stands on a candle-holder with a large flame coming from the back of her head. As a witch, Ophelia has only the melted stump of a candle and a large flame where her head should be. Both the witch and Kyoko wear a long red robe, which is the main body of the doppel itself. Kyoko's magical girl outfit and her fierce personality are certainly the traits of a Wǔdàn. Physically Ophelia can be described in two ways: as a Wǔdàn, which is a female warrior in traditional Chinese opera, and as a candle-headed horseman. The description for the card states that the doppel reminds Kyoko of her loathsome past and regrets, with the doppel still being capable of using the illusionary magic that Kyoko can no longer use. This ties in with Kyoko's trust issues and her conflicted feelings towards what she wanted for her father and what her father actually wanted. In the play, Ophelia's main conflict was between obeying her father or her love interest and she had a fear of intimacy. Ophelia, derived from the Greek word for "help", is also the name of a character from Shakespeare's Hamlet, who was a young woman who had a high romanticized suicide and has been linked to the ideas of regret, corrupted innocence, and unrequited love.
